Petition for the Parole of Timothy Kates
We are calling on the appropriate authorities to grant parole for Timothy Kates, a vulnerable and disabled individual who is currently incarcerated and in urgent need of proper medical care.
Mr. Kates is serving a 10-year sentence for a nonviolent cocaine offense involving less than 28 grams. There were no weapons involved and no children impacted in his case. He will be eligible for parole in August 2026, but his current condition demands immediate attention and compassionate consideration.
Since his incarceration, Mr. Kates’ health has declined severely. He is now confined to a wheelchair and requires 24-hour assistance for basic daily needs. He is unable to care for himself independently and is considered a vulnerable, disabled individual.
In addition to his physical limitations, Mr. Kates suffers from serious mental health challenges and has a 5th-grade reading level, further impacting his ability to advocate for himself or navigate the prison system.
Reports indicate that he has endured harsh and unfair treatment while incarcerated, including exposure to:
• Life-threatening infections
• Violence
• Unsafe and inhumane conditions
