No one at Pitt has taken the issue of Halal food seriously. Every time someone complains, they listen but have never taken an action, which is why only a mass-led student driven action can bring a change. Salem's would solve the issue of Halal food availability for many.

My friend and I were chatting about how the halal food station is a joke. I can only think of one time they had halal food there, and it was the same food at the station next to it. The food there was fish and vegetables, which is already halal, so they also just put that same food in the halal station too. The only difference was that the food at the halal station had gotten cold. They don't really care to put non-pescatarian halal dishes there.

Pitt prides itself on diversity, and yet the campus dining options are not inclusive to all students. It's important to have halal food options consistently available, and not just pescatarian or vegetarian options. Fish and vegetables are already considered halal, so there's no significance to having pescatarian or vegetarian options at the halal food stand. Pitt should be making more of an effort to consistently serve halal meat in order to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

Halal food is a significant need for the campus, and Salem would be the best option. Their food is fantastic! Every time I go there, I see people from all faiths love it.
