Currently there is no OneDrive to FileExplorer (FolderSync) on the computers in the "old mac-lab".

The way it is in the PC-lab at A-243, you can sync to and from your OneDrive, by signing into your Nord University account locally, and specifying what folders from your Nord University OneDrive you want to sync to and from.

This gives you an automatic backup of current work to the cloud, as well as access to your files anywhere you want, allowing for easy use of custom tools, scripts, personal settings (maya/nuke) and so on.

IT-dep. argues that the setup is the same on all computers, and that there is not supposed to be such an interface available to students, due to disk space...

The argument is flawed:

Firstly, there is such a feature in A-243.

Secondly, upon restart of the computers, the local OneDrive is purged from the computer (whilst the cloud keeps the files that has been synced).

(You can bypass this by using "OneDrive for Business" desktop app, but it almost never works, and when it works you are left with always downloading the whole OneDrive library, and not just the specific folders you want to work with/from. This totally defeats the purpose of the OneDrive, AND introduces the disk space issues that IT-dep. "argument" pointed at.)
