As a caregiver and spouse, my need to be with my husband for open heart surgery for his peace of mind as well as my own is imperative.

I surely don't want anyone I love dying or suffering alone, nor would I want to. Same for loved ones in nursing homes.

I stand behind this petition. My father was hospitalized on April 3, 2020 with complications from his CHF. He was transferred 3 times during his hospital stay. Because he had onset dementia he hardly knew what was going on or why. We had absolutely NO contact with any doctor during his 64 day stay. The nurses gave us minimum info. He was unable to have any of his personal things, absolutely no visitors. He stayed in panic attacks this whole time. Even though he was treated for the chf his condition deteriorated over this time. He was released back to the nursing home on June 28, 2020 and passed away on July 13. If my father wouldn’t have been alone the whole time maybe we could’ve helped him cope in some way.

Please do not deny a loved one the ability to be without a family member while receiving medical care. This is inhumane and cruel.

It is inhumane and un-American to not allow family members and guardians to be with their loved ones while hospitalized. I have seen first hand the difference in recovery when a patient is out at ease knowing their loved one is by their side. Speak out for the voiceless...It is time to take back our rights.

My brother hasn't seen his wife since Mar 23 when she went in for surgery. She has yet to be released because of complications. My brother has had a heart attack from the stress!!!!
