We, the undersigned licensed realtors and members of OREA/TREB support the proposition to change the neighbourhood name of Oakwood-Vaughan that currently appears on MLS listings within this Toronto area to Oakwood Village. A majority of local residents support the name change, which more accurately describes the area, in keeping with area amenities such as the Oakwood Village Public Library, Oakwood Village Arts Festival, and Oakwood Village BIA to name a few. The change would also reflect the more broad, inclusive, and welcoming attitude towards residents and prospective buyers, as opposed to a narrowly defined area named for one intersection. As it welcomes new families and businesses into the neighbourhood, this area is appealing to the Toronto Real Estate Board to recognize the value that this small but important change would have for both residents and the resale of homes in and around Oakwood Village.
The feedback from local business owners regarding this proposed change continues to be overwhelmingly positive. I am currently compiling these perspectives into a formal report to present to the Toronto Real Estate Board.
March 13, 2012
The momentum behind this proposal continues to grow as more real estate professionals recognize the benefits of this naming adjustment. This collective support confirms that our community identity deserves to be reflected accurately in local property listings.

Oakwood Village sounds so much better. The current name is just confusing for people looking at listings online.

Long overdue. The BIA and the arts festival already use the name so the MLS should get with the program already.

YES PLEASE. I live right by the library and it makes way more sense to use the name the community actually uses.
