Petition for Huntsville/Madison Area Catholic Schools to Join the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA)

I agree with your football comment. We should have joined AHSAA when the football team was started. Baseball and softball are also not in our middle schools now. Plus all sports would benefit from the higher competition level and we would lose fewer students to other schools.

Agreed and well said. Our middle schools current league, HISL, also doesn't offer baseball, softball, cross country, tennis and more. AHSAA does. Having the option to form a middle school team and or tryout for the HS team would give our kids so many more options and tougher competition. JPII baseball, softball, football, cross country would all benefit from having a middle team. Soccer, basketball and track would all benefit from the harder competition at the middle school level plus and more importantly athletes who wish to compete at that higher level would have that option in our local Catholic school system. Joining AHSAA Is long over due and I fully support it.

Parent of 3 students who attended Catholic schools from K - 12 and graduated from JPII High School. We need to keep our kids in Catholic schools by giving them the best athletic opportunities to go along with the excellent education and moral guidance.

This is a no brainer! Should have happened a long time ago.

This is the right thing to do. My son might still be in Catholic schools if this had been in place.

The ability to compete athletically while at Catholic School was instrumental in my development and left an enormous positive impact in my life.

I believe that it is time for feater schools to be applied to JP2. In order for teams to have a solid future in all sports and athletic programs. JP2 has a desperate need for a large incoming students I order to power a more athletic and diverse school format.

All children should be given the same opportunity.

Thank you for organizing this. We should look to have it signed by our area's state school board member and our state legislators, as well.

Thank you for getting this started to allow our children the same opportunities that the public schools have as well as to prevent injury in our 9th graders.

Our Catholic schools and kids deserve all the opportunities other area schools have.
