I agree the RDA is far too low. As an MS patient I take at least 6000 IU daily minimum.

My husband had to get a prescription from his doctor for $50,000 and he needs to take it 3 times a week as his D levels were extremely low

Because of its collateral benefits beyond the production of vitamin d, I suntan daily either outdoors around solar noon or indoors in my own home tanning unit. I also take 10,000 IU's per day of vitamin d. This protocol has kept my Leukemia in remission for 12 years and the cardiovascular benefits are profound, my BP is 113/65 my resting pulse 65 and my GP says I have the arteries of a teenager, btw I am now 64 years old. This situation is one massive screw up and our government needs to fix this now. I have read the analysis of the IOM report and it clearly shows the statistical error. The upper no adverse effect level of vitamin d is actually around 30,000 - 50,000 IU's per day so what is the problem!!!! Fix it.

Canadians cannot escape chronic disease so long as their governments fail to adjust their recommendations for nutrients volumes as the science of health advances.

I agree that Vitamin D should be reassessed and that cannabus should be allowed for tx in hospitals.
