I take vitamin D Supplement but the average person doesn't know the importance of D for good health. Please correct the error and publish the correct dosage.

The untold amount of illness that may be attributable to an inadequate recommendation for vitamin D is staggering!

The UK Osteoporosis Society has adopted the same flawed RDA level based on this statistical error so the impact is worldwide and the error needs to be corrected.

The minimum amount of Vitamin D3 needs to be reset immediately to meet the standards of adequacy found as shown and should definitely be re-evaluated by the IOM and Health Canada and the FDA in USA as well, to keep the populations of those countries at an acceptable level for optimum health, not just disease abatement. The statistical error that resulted in the estimation of the RDA should be corrected.

I support policies for the maintenance of optimal health and prevention of disease. The RDA for vitamin D needs to be re-evaluated by the IOM and Health Canada.

In my search to improve my health, I learned that Vitamin D is vital and that what the FDA says is okay is not what's best for our health. The Vitamin D Council is a resource.

Natural vitamin D, and other benefits from the sun, is shown by recent research to be a factor in prevent and Rx of a growing list of common diseases. The risks associated with these diseases far outweighs any risks associated with sun exposure, ie few people die of skin cancer compared to the nber who die from diseases whose prevention could have been more sun exposure. So don't use sun blocks but rarely when the sun exposure is a really long time.

Empirical evidence demonstrates that much higher daily intakes than those recently established by the US Food and Nutrition Board (FNB)and Health Canada, are necessary to achieve adequate serum status for vitamin D. The recent study by Veugelers and Ekwaru (2014. A statistical error in the estimation of the Recommended Daily Allowance for vitamin D. Nutrients 20;6(10):4472-5.) explains HOW the FNB got it so wrong. Based on these new findings, it is essential that the fundamental question of adequate intake for vitamin D be re-evaluated.
