I was taking 2000 IU daily for 3 years, and when I finally had serum levels checked I was found to be deficient at 149. This was a big surprise as the recommended daily amount in Canada is 750 IU. Obviously this isn't enough.

To allow people to make an educated determination of how much Vit D they need to ward off the numerous problems associated with Vit D deficiency they need valid information. Please revise your current low amts needed for reach the low end of adequate.

The IOM must re-evaluate the evidence and find out for themselves if there is, indeed, a serious error in the statistics. It is very serious indeed if 50% of the population will remain deficient on the current recommended intake.

If the IOM and Health Canada would like to continue to be relevant, they need to provide accurate information. Please re-evaluate the RDA for Vitamin D.
