It is an absolute disgrace to see this in a public high school. It disgusts me to know that you allow and continue to let your fish and plants decompose in the view of your pupils. As a fish/animal lover, I am deeply disturbed and disappointed in your abilities to keep a fish tank clean. As you should know, fish can produce ammonia. This can not only kill your fish and plants, but can possibly cause your students to become ill. I fear that the condition of this fish tank only mirrors Hartselle's high school.

Fish are living sentient beings who deserve our respect and kindness! If you buy an animal, you take the responsibility of being his/her guardian!

This is pathetic. Just like hartselle high. Even though they're fish, they're still pets/animals and this is neglect. Way to teach your students Hartselle High.

This is animal neglect and there should be a lawsuit againts who ever is in charge of this aquarium. Fish tanks are meant to enhance the environment of the students. If the tank is as bad as it looks in this picture? I can only imagine how depressing it looks to walk by it every day. Clean it up or take it out!

This is abusive and there is no reason for it. Get rid of the tank if you can't care for it. Tanks need weekly water changes.

Kids need to be educated on the proper care of animals if such responsibility is to be taken on. Please consider making this part of a life science class and an aspect of a more beautiful school.

If you can't care for the fish, don't have the fish. You are setting a terrible example to students, you should be ashamed the students have started this petition. Thankfully they have more sense than the adults.

This is irresponsible. Why claim to be a school if you can't even educate by demonstration? The administration knows better, so do better.

Fish tanks need weekly water changes and maintenance, at LEAST. Get someone to clean the tank and do water changes every week.
