re the two comments below, I've never seen such tripe in my life. The petition has nothing to do with 'boycotting' the garage, so most of what you've said is irrelevant. And also, 'eyesore' doesn't apply, have you seen it now? Especially from the canal side, where you now have a lovely view of the back of a garage as you wander the path. This is about respect for life and habitat over ignorance and callousness. Which side do you want to be on? ...

I agree with Alan Rayner. Whilst i appreciate that we were not consulted, this area has been an eye sore for too long and now its clean and tidy and we have lovely views of the canal and the land beyond.
With regards to boycotting the garage, this is cutting off you nose to spite your face. The garage has been a vast improvement to the area and the owners have made a great efforts to tidy up what was a locked up building and made the area looked run down. If you are happy to have to travel elsewhere for your goods when you have a great little supermarket and garage on your door step then thats your choice. I for one will not be boycotting it.

Sorry i disagree with you. Its not recreational land and was such an eyesore. Prior to this petition a number of residents opposite have commented to me just what an improvement it has made getting rid of the mess that was there. We need wild land and i vote for it where it needs a vote but i’m afraid on this occasion i am not in agreement.
If it has been done without permission then maybe that is another issue, but there again i am not sure you need permission to cut down overgrown bushes. As for boycotting the business please take yourselves back to when we had no shop in Slattocks and everyone moaned about it and were ecstatic that someone/anyone was taking over a run down derelict garage. Lets give the garage folk a chance to finish off what they started. I would rather see the garage open and doing well, so think on.

Typical selfishness and arrogance with no thought for anyone else.
This needs to be brought to the attention of our local Castleton councillors as well as British Waterways who have extensive powers in these matters.
Local residents should be asked to boycott the business.immediately. and indefinately.
