Recently, the problem of Google My Activity data randomly disappearing even without auto-delete being turned on nor it being deleted by a user has gained traction online.
People began noticing it back in 2023. This Google post had 186 people report having this problem. Earlier this Google post had 26 people report having the same problem.
In more recent times (2025), many people have noticed this problem, specifically related to Google Maps Timelines. This Google post, pointing out this problem, has had 2428 people report having the same problem by now.
