We need no more cuts

transport is essential in rural ireland

For many people, lack of transport is a significant barrier to securing and maintaining employment.

To discontinue to fund the DPOC to carry out this service will have a seriously negative impact on the lives of so many. Its yet another attack on the independence of people with disabilities. This is the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising, the Proclamation read by Pearse in front of the GPO says that Irish citizens would have "equal rights and equality of opportunity" - where is this for citizens with disabilities?

Again cuts to those who really need these services

Great service to the people of Clare. How much more can view take away from us

For anyone who wants to work in rural Ireland transport can be a huge barrier. Employment should be a realistic option for all members of society.

Having worked with individuals with acquired brain injury over the last 3 years in Clare, I am deeply concerned to see this cut in funding. The individuals I work with are already completely isolated with no public transport links to many parts of rural Clare. The vital service that DPOC transport service provides is an essential link for people with disabilities to leave their homes and contribute and participate in society. I fear that many of those I work with will now be left at home with no connection to the outside world. This is how we treat people with disabilities in 2016 and it is a disgrace. Funding should be restored asap

The availability of a Door to Door Transport Service for the Disabled is essential for travelling to appointments & for quality of life.

Spending money on transport now keeps people independent and living in their own homes thus saving on residential services in the future.

HSE, Government Departments , Politicians, Etc. Please remember that if funding is cut this is a return to the bad old days for Disabled People when it was a case of " Out of Sight, Out of Mind". The Transport service and other services provided by DPOC have given Disabled People a means to achieving independent living and being capable of living full, active lives as is their rights as Irish Citizens. On the 100th Anniversary of The 1916 Rising This is not the type of society The Volunteers died for. Do not return to the Dark Ages !!!!!

Its sad to see the vulnerable again targeted by social and economic policy...
