Grand Turk has so many beautiful and innocent animals that help make the island the beautiful place that it is. It is so important to have the resources to be able to help pets, wild animals, all animals in all circumstances be able to access the care they need. Having healthy animals shows visitors that people care, it shows humanity and heart, and the only way to do this is to provide them with the most basic care, and that starts with having accessible veterinary services. This would also help reduce the pot cake population which would eliminate the abundance of stray, malnourished and abused animals that suffer needlessly and that get taken advantage of by heartless people. It also will show tourists that grand Turk residents care about animals. No tourist wants to leave the island remembering it as a place where people abuse and mistreat them with no regard at all. Basic accessible veterinary care is a necessity, not an option! This would make grand Turk a better place for everyone.

I have seen a horse that collided with a vehicle suffer for days because the government vet would not go to euthanize the poor thing. A private vet eventually planned to go on his own dime but sadly the poor thing died an agonizing death. Lack of food water and health care is huge. Malnutritioned animals roaming the streets and multiplying. It’s about time a plan was put in place.

I have been on Grand Turks. They need to geld those stallions, and fix the dogs. You see scars on the Donkeys from dog pack attacks. And a local said the dogs kill the baby donkeys. Very sad to see Equines on an Island with very little forage.

The animals are such a huge part of Grand Turk. It would be amazing to have a veterinarian on island, to help the ensure owned animals have the resources they need; as well as, improve the safety and wellbeing of those who are on their own.
