Petition for Fair Allocation of Clinical Rooms in Cranbrook
To: The Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Cranbrook & Sissinghurst Parish Council
My name is Dr Dineli Charlesworth, and I am a GP at Orchard End Surgery in Cranbrook. For 22 years, my team and I have been committed to providing excellent healthcare to almost half the population of Cranbrook and the surrounding villages. However, with the recent acquisition of Cranbrook Clinic (Jockey Lane), we have growing concerns about the future availability of clinical space and the ability to continue delivering high quality GP services for our patients.
Despite our long-standing role in the community, Orchard End Surgery was not consulted regarding the available space at the Cranbrook Clinic. At present, we operate out of approximately 100 square metres of clinical space, while a new proposal sees the Integrated Care Board supporting a neighbouring practice with 450 square metres at the Cranbrook Clinic. This fourfold difference in space allocation risks disadvantaging almost half the population of this community.
It is essential that all practices—including Orchard End Surgery—are given a fair opportunity to provide high-quality healthcare to the community.
A decision on this proposal is expected in early December, which is why we urgently need your support.
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the ICB to:
➡️ Defer approval of the Cranbrook Clinic proposal until an inclusive review of the healthcare needs of the entire Cranbrook community has been conducted.
Your signature will help ensure equal consideration, equitable resource allocation, and a healthier future for everyone in our town and surrounding villages.
Thank you for your support.
Dr Dineli Charlesworth
