Hi Everyone!
My name is Michelle Batten, and I am asking for your endorsement and support to become a Vice President on the AFT-Oregon Executive Council.
I am completing my 11th year as Field Rep for PFSP - Portland Federation of Classified Professionals - AFT Local #111, and I'm also President-Elect of our Local, becoming President on July 1 when our long-time leader, Belinda Reagan, retires. Prior to becoming Field Rep, I was Treasurer of our local for many years - and helped #111 obtain the top audit spots in AFT National locals for three years in a row - twice as #2, and once as the #1 audit nationally. I'm very proud of those accomplishments. I've been our Communications VP, on our budget and bargaining committees, and a Trustee on our Health and Welfare Trust since 2003.
I come from a long line of staunch unionists - my grandfather was president of the Coastal Longshoreman union in the 30s and 40s during the long strike, and family members have been active members in the longshore and tug boat unions.
I look forward to working with and representing my AFT-Oregon family.

michelle has done so much for 111 over the years. shes got the experience we need on the council for sure.
Michelle is a tireless defender of employee rights, strong negotiator, and spreadsheet wizard. I am proud to have been mentored by, and served with her for these past years.
