Petition for Don Bonham's Miss 50

Please rethink things. It belongs in the permanent collection.

This important work of art deserves to remain on public display.

Don't do this.

In a country of Immigrants such as Canada, if you are a citizen, Indigenous, or landed immigrant, you're a Canadian. Full stop.And as an artist, this status should never be a justification for the exclusion of an artist's work.

This is unacceptable. It is edpecially important now, in this era of new censorship, to preserve culturally significant works of art. Because it was created in an era when the timbre of the time was different than todays is NOT a reason to do this. This is exactly what Art History is.

I was a student of Don at Fanshawe College. He was a motivating force in my development and in many others. I loved working on his "projects" especially the scale model replica jet and race car that he took to Bonneville Salt Flats. Later he visited me when I was at Cranbrook Academy of Art doing my Grad degree. We spent time reminiscing and he lamented the political undertones that eventually lead to him moving on. He needs to be recognized!

Definitely a work of art

A very storied project, with many connections to London. Combining technology and the body, sculpture and performance -- it should be kept and display strategy developed.

It would be a shame to be rid of this. Perhaps it should be on permanent display instead.

Miss 50 has a home in Canada. That’s where she belongs.

MISS 50 BELONGS IN CANADA!

This significant work by Don Bonham should remain in London, specifically in the McIntosh Gallery collection. Please reconsider the decision to deaccession it.

This sculpture has much relevance to London Ontario, both in terms of the Artist and the subject of the work. It should stay in London and the McIntosh should honor its bold but important purchase.

Could this not hang from the ceiling in one of the engineering buildings or at the Diamond Flight Centre where Western has a program? Bonham no doubt took his lumps for his artistic persona, but his work should speak for itself and live on.

This work is an important part of Lomdon’s history . Don Bonham was known by all while teaching in London during the 1970,s he was a mentor to many and is reach was long . His students scattered out around the continent . I became a professor of sculpture and after44 years am now retiring . Letting these important artworks go which signify and defines an era is irresponsible and short sighted.

Our cultural heritage includes Labatt’s 50 beer and this sculpture is so recognizable in that context too.

Artist Don Bonham’s dynamic sculptural creation warps through Out of the static world. Carrying out minds and spirit with him on a vision of adventure and speed.
