The students of Wesleyan demand the administration cancel classes in order to sanction a day of protest in response to the election of Donald Trump. His policies and rhetoric demonstrate a clear affront to the values of the University as well as basic human decency. It is our obligation to resist the profound danger posed by the elected administration to the fundamental tenets of American democracy. This resistance be must immediate and overwhelming. We would consider it a serious failure on the part of the Administration to deny this request in light of the extreme circumstances under which we find our country today.
