- Petition for Consistent National Standards in the Sale of Travel Insurance

In the interest of travellers + the landscape of where clients reside, removing the barrier of who Travel Advisors can sell Insurance to, is imperative.

I am clients in many provinces.

its about time as agents we can sell insurance to all provinces.

Please allow us to equally protect our clients across the country

I agree that there should be a national standard.

In consideration of the training that all travel agents receive and the need for all Canadians to be properly covered by insurance, the Government of Canada should create a process by which agents can sell insurance across the country.

We should have only one insurance license for the country not province by province.

We need one standard license agreement so that we can advise clients on the correct insurance cover to fit their needs. This should not be dependent of where they reside. As travel advisors we are in the best position to give them advice on what best fits their needs.

Consistent national standards in the sale of travel insurance, would be most beneficial to the traveller. It would also provide a seamless sales process for the travel professional for the benefit of all, including the insurance provider.

This would be so beneficial for all of our clients and make it easier for us as agents education wise.

I would much appreciate a standardized Sale of Travel Insurance- A standardized approach to the sale of travel insurance across all provinces. I work with many group travelers, and currently, clients who reside outside of Ontario are often left to navigate insurance options on their own. This can lead to confusion and inadequate coverage, as most travelers are not well-versed in the complexities of travel insurance—and many mistakenly believe they don’t need it. Because I’m based in Ontario, I’m not licensed to sell insurance to clients in other provinces. However, I would prefer a unified solution that allows me to confidently present a consistent and reliable insurance option to all clients, regardless of where they live. It’s essential that travelers fully understand the importance of having appropriate coverage—and that they’re guided by accurate, professional information rather than having to figure it out independently.
