My name is Terence Crawley and I am from the Washington D.C. area. I have been incarcerated since I was 27 years old and I am now 41 yrs. old. Im in prison now...not for the robbery that I committed in 2010...but for mistakes that I made when I was 19 yrs. old. As of today, that mistake was made over 20 years ago. Yet, the federal no-justice system violated my rights by sentencing me to ten years more than my codefendant. This is against the U.S. Constitutional ban on double jeopardy. While I have accepted responsibility for my actions and served nearly 14 years in federal prison away from my family and two children, I am still looking at serving another 4 1/2 years (with halfway house time). If I had received a fair sentence, comparable to my codefendant... I would have been home in March 2020.
I have been diligent in fighting this injustice against me and my family the entire time. This very year the courts denied me relief even where the government admitted that I received ineffective assistance of counsel, which resulted in my being sentenced to 272 months. The GOOD news is that the U.S. Sentencing Commission has passed a law that takes effect on Nov. 1, 2023! This law says (paraphrase), if you have an "unusually long sentence" and you have served at least "ten years" and a law has changed since your sentencing so that you if you were sentenced today, it would represent a 'gross disparity', this may be considered as "Extraordinary and Compelling" Circumstances to be released.

I MEET THIS CRITERIA AND NEED YOUR HELP SHOWING THE COURT THAT THE COMMUNITY WANTS ME HOME.

I could give you a long spill about all the classes I have taken and the people that I have helped since my incarceration, which is true. However, all the classes in the world, and self-help books won't help somebody do right if they are set on doing wrong, right? So, the most important reason why I deserve to be released to my family and the community under a FAIR SENTENCE...is that I am a FATHER FIRST! I want more than anything to show my children that their father is a good man.. someone they can look up to...not some crook. I give you my word... that after I come home...you will see me in the community feeding the homeless...volunteering at shelters...mentoring the youth...and being an example of what it means to Show up and Show out...in a positive way!!

So I'm asking that you show your support...and also hold me accountable as a member of society and our community as a whole by signing this petition. Thank you for your love and support.
Respectfully,
Terence Crawley
