In accordance with the CLC Constitution, Article VIII, Section 3 we, the undersigned, respectfully call for a special meeting between the CLC membership (“members") and the CLC Board of Deacons (“Board”) prior to any vote for the pastoral candidate, Jim Powell.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the opportunity for the members to ask the Board questions from the floor about the qualifications of Jim Powell and the vetting process so that every member can be fully informed before voting. Pastor Powell (or anyone outside the CLC congregation) will not be in attendance at this meeting so that both the Board and the membership can speak freely and without reservation.

The Board has informally communicated that the membership will have the opportunity to ask Pastor Powell questions directly. While this is valuable and should occur, a separate meeting with the Board and the membership must also happen. This meeting should happen on a day or evening prior to the day or evening that the vote is taken, so that members have time to process and pray about what they learn before voting.
