Petition for Change in Bacon's College Admissions Policy

Completely agree with local schools for local children. Selective admissions criteria can increase inequality.

Local schools with local kids are such an important part of building local communities. Also, something to take the overcrowding pressure at Canada Water must be good.

Being a peninsula Rotherhithe is exceptionally disadvantaged by not having a local secondary school which admits local children who wish to attend

As a local resident of SE16 I fully support this petition.

These changes are essential to give people living in the Rotherhithe area a fair opportunity of access to secondary education and to develop integration amongst the community

Children living on the Rotherhithe peninsular are currently at a disadvantage when it comes to school admissions

Attending a local school enables a child to fully integrate themselves into both the educational and extra-curricular and social aspects of a school. A sibling policy is crucial to building school-home partnerships and a true school 'community'.

It's ridiculous that children living close by or within half a mile will not be able to attend their local secondary school, whereas children over two or three miles away can. There is enough pressure on working parents and on children themselves without this added stress of a long journey to and from school and the costs associated with this! Our local children should be prioritised and the rules changed.

A fair proportion of places for local students should apply . Schools are vital to the functioning health and pride of a community, community is local people

I'm hopeful Bacon's College will change admissions policies to reflect this strong local opinion

Another secondary school which supports local people and feeder schools is vital for the Rotherhithe area.

For me important issue is children's safety while traveling to and from the school. Shorter journey time and less need for public transport etc.
