Petition for Brunswick School Zone
Background
The intersection where Scott Street meets Brunswick Meadows Drive is a place where countless children are both picked up and dropped off on their way to and from school. The walk that many of these children have to make every day is not safe. Several of these children either have to cross Scott Street from the adjacent subdivision or they have to literally walk down Scott Street from a close by apartment complex in order to catch their bus. At this intersection Scott is a high traffic, high speed street without any sidewalks or pedestrian crosswalks. Often children will be seen walking in the middle of the busy street on their way to or from home, making this situation very unsafe.
We are petitioning Harris County, Precint 7, to make streets safer for our kids by:
- Declaring the section of Scott Street passing between the Brunswick Meadows and Brunswick Lake subdivisions and extending on to Beltway 8 a permanent school zone.
- Installing sidewalks on each side of this section of Scott Street.
- Placing a crosswalk and a crossing guard at the intersection of Scott Street and Brunswick Meadows drive
