Before closing for renovations under new ownership, Black Cat was THE place in town for small-time local musicians from various idioms to have a chance to showcase their art in front of an energetic and supportive audience. It was awesome, and there was a packed show virtually every weekend! I would love to see the new owners provide that same awesome experience for Boone’s underground music scene, artists and fans alike.

If this place can’t be a venue anymore that would a real shame.

Black cat has been a staple in the boone music scene as has allowed younger people to see live music when they would otherwise be unable to

Black cat is a staple in the Boone music scene. After I had been to a few shows there, I developed a love for the business itself (and this was before I ever ate there). Not only do I want Black Cat to have shows for my personal enjoyment, I think it would be a smart business move. Looking at the example of Murphy’s/Ransom, it’s obvious that much of the Boone scene have “personally boycotted” the establishment. People are very mad, because a business they came to know a love changed drastically, and they no longer felt an attachment to it. It was no longer theirs. In order to ease the community into the “phase 2” of black cat and prevent resentment, they should continue to host shows with local bands. If the pursuit of tradition, community involvement, or local arts arent enough to convince the owners to host shows, maybe they would do it for money; if they keep in accordance with their max capacity, hosting these shows could prove quite profitable..

This place is where I first discovered and fell in love with the Boone music scene. It is well known and loved in Boone and beyond and we have already felt the loss while it’s been under construction. Keep Black Cat alive to uplift and support our community, hopefully to return better than ever!

This is the best location in town to have a concert. Always lots of fun and brings the community together.

Black Cat was a favorite venue of many in Boone, and one of the best places to see live music for people under 21.
