A terrible idea for this location. Skate parks are noisy and crowded at all hours. There isn't enough parking at Moon Valley Park to accommodate the number of people who will surely congregate. The resulting noise and spillover traffic will destroy the property values of adjacent homes. Everyone wants kids to have a safe place to play, but skate parks are better located in a larger park on major commercial cross-streets, a good distance away from residential lots.

This is the worst possible location in the park.

What about the big empty area EAST of the park? No parking on the north side, the area behind the church has access to parking from the park itself. Also, it’s way easier to keep an eye on your kids if you have younger kids playing in the actual park.

Good idea (I was a skater into my twenties). Terrible location. I live right across the street from your proposed site. My front door faces those soccer fields. Three reasons why your location sucks: 1) Do you have any idea how loud skateboarding is? Wood slapping against concrete endlessly. It would be a nightmare when trying to get my kids to bed. 2) Have you ever been to a skatepark at night? The lighting that would have to go in would ruin the ambiance of my street. 3) There’s no park parking on this side! It’s bad enough when there are soccer games on the weekend. Keep it on the other side with the tennis/basketball courts, playground, and parking. There’s plenty of room on that side. Plus, there’s water fountains, lighting and bathrooms over there.

I live nearby and strongly support a skate plaza at Moon Valley Park. This area has a high concentration of families with school-age children, making it ideal for the placement of a skate plaza. The skate plaza will improve outcomes for many children through healthy physical activity and social interaction in a protective environment. I look forward to seeing the children skateboarding and scootering at Moon Valley Park.
