Honorable Dalton McGuinty, Premiere of Ontario, Mr. Jeff Leal, MPP Peterborough, and Mr. Rod Phillips CEO - OLG: In 1999 the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) entered into an operational agreement with the private operator Great Blue Heron Gaming Company (primarily being Casinos Austria International - CAI) to operate its assets on behalf of the taxpayers of Ontario (Great Blue Heron Casino). During the period of this contract the province received information informing them of criminal activity carried out by this management company, including financial, life safety and environmental infractions. With receipt of this information, the operator remains in control of the provinces assets without any criminal investigation or charges being sought by the OLG. Further, the OLG renewed this contract in 2010 without public bid or competitive process for an additional 20 years, which is contrary to Ontario Public Policy and previously criticized by the Office of the Ombudsmen in the 2007 review of the OLG. We the taxpayers of Ontario request a full public inquiry into the mismanagement of the Great Blue Heron facility and the practices of the contracted operator - The Great Blue Heron Gaming Company, before any further contracts to operate OLG assets are granted to private operators. We the public believe the OLG is knowingly putting employees and the general public at risk by granting private operating contracts without adequate oversight or enforcement. We feel the OLG should not be privatizing the OLG's assets until it has properly and adequately dealt with this operator openly and with the full scrutiny of the public. Until this has been completed, we the people of Ontario oppose any further privatizing of the OLG.
