I'm a UNH grad and former adjunct instructor for the English Department, as well as a former UNH staff member. Lecturers are the backbone of a UNH education. The administration should immediately negotiate a fair contract for lecturers -- one that compensates them fairly for their contributions and gives them the job security enjoyed by their tenure-track colleagues.

Japanese classes being offered was a deciding factor for me when it came down to choosing a college. I am outraged to see that this is how UNH is treating it’s Japanese program, with its students being some of the most passionate and dedicated I’ve met.

Scrapping an Asian language program is an unfortunate decision that will curtail opportunities for students. Speaking from my personal experience, Japanese is the foundation of my career. I was given a great opportunity in an international company and transferred to Tokyo based on the fact that I speak Japanese. Please keep these opportunities alive for UNH students.

As a UNH alumni, I am severely disappointed in these decisions. I will not donate any money to the University of New Hampshire until this is undone.
