Petition for a Fair Lecturer Contract
Lecturers are an integral part of the faculty at UNH. They make up about 25% of the faculty but teach roughly 50% of the classes. They help shape the classroom experience of many first-year and transfer students. Lecturers have been working without a contract for over 850 days, nearly three years. We students demand President James W. Dean urge his bargaining team to do the right thing: come to a satisfactory agreement with the Lecturers United contract team. Our lecturers are a vital part of the university experience. Lecturers are central to the recruitment and retention efforts the president is championing. Not settling fair contracts with lecturers is beneath the office of the president and a stain upon the reputation of our fine university.
