PETITION DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY, CIVILITY, AND LEADERSHIP STANDARDS
To the Board of Directors of the Boca Grove Property Owners Association:
We, the undersigned members of the Boca Grove community, write to formally object to the conduct displayed at the most recent January Boca Grove Board meeting toward Board Member Mrs. Lindi Rosen.
During that public meeting, Mrs. Rosen was interrupted and shouted at by fellow Board members, including Brandon Rippo, Geoff Newman, and Curt Smith. The tone was hostile and dismissive. The conduct was inappropriate, unprofessional, and wholly inconsistent with the standards expected of elected leadership.
Disagreement does not justify behavior unbecoming of a member.
Verbally attacking publicly and directing a fellow Board member to sit down in a raised and confrontational manner reflects a failure of decorum and a disregard for the dignity of the office itself. Board meetings are not arenas for personal dominance or silencing dissent. They are structured governance proceedings.
Immediately following the meeting, Mr. Jim Perilstein verbally attacked the General Manager in a public setting, calling her an “<expletive> liar” multiple times. While each individual is responsible for his own words, leadership behavior sets tone. When Board members model hostility and aggression during official proceedings, it lowers the threshold for public misconduct.
This pattern is deeply concerning.
The Board carries fiduciary duties not only to manage assets, but to preserve the integrity, professionalism, and reputation of this community. Conduct that appears dismissive or aggressive toward a fellow Board member — and particularly toward a woman serving in leadership — undermines confidence in fair governance and damages the culture of respect our community deserves.
We therefore demand the following:
- A public acknowledgment that the conduct directed at Mrs. Rosen was improper.
- A public apology to Mrs. Rosen.
- A clear commitment from the Board that future meetings will be conducted with professionalism, structure, and mutual respect.
- Immediate reaffirmation of standards of conduct for Board members during official proceedings.
Leadership is not merely about authority. It is about example.
The residents of Boca Grove deserve governance that reflects composure, accountability, and respect — especially in moments of disagreement.
