Sad that a fine Christian cholera and human being is treated in this manner by people who should know better.

I am forever indebted to Dr. Johnson for his influencing my career path into Christian psychology. I hope to continue to follow in his teaching and leadership.

This is why Christians are mocked and not taken seriously in society. This is shameful. I know Eric, and apparently, he's both too good a scholar and too good a Christian for that school.

Wish many in leadership at SBTS had a heart for the local church rather than just the local Seminary.

As a current student of the seminary I'm ashamed and saddened at this firing.

I am taking his class now. I heard that he is great Biblical counselor and he is a good professor at SBTS. Please, he is still teaching Biblical counseling at SBTS...

I don't claim to know the details of the firing, but I do know this: Eric Johnson is a deeply orthodox, evangelical, reformed, and Biblical Christian, qualities that are reflected in all his writings.

I studied at SBTS from 2001-2005 and had Johnson for one class. I also read Foundations for Soul Care. Johnson is solid. This firing doesn't smell right.

As a former SBTS student of Christian/Biblical counseling (I attended during the transition from the licensed counselor track to the church based nouthetic approach and benefited from both), I am grieved and greatly concerned about the firing of Dr. Johnson and the wrongful slander brought against him in the process. Dr. Johnson brought much needed perspective, biblical wisdom, experience, and balance to the biblical counseling program. The fact that his character and teaching has been so grossly misrepresented is shameful and reflects extremely poorly on SBTS and its leadership.

The TGC culture has finally become the serpent swallowing its own tail. Dr. Johnson's life's work (from students to publications) is devoted to the pursuit of Scriptural reasoning about psychology, and he is the most warm, generous academic I have ever known. Indebted to him in many significant ways. I pray he lands on his feet somewhere better than SBTS.

Dr. Johnson was one of the best professors I had. I learned so much about soul care from him that I still practice today.

I am deeply grieved by this news. Dr. Johnson taught me how to care for others in a way that reflects the love, compassion and wisdom of Christ. The way that leaders of ACBC have represented him are inaccurate.

The 20 min. video may only be a short part of the sermon, but seems rather unhealthy from a pulpit. I adhere to much of what ACBC does, but this seems uncharacteristically unhelpful. Dr. Johnson the type that, while I do not always agree with his conclusions, has a deep love for the Lord which I have seen and experienced. I am a graduate of SBTS and still thankful for all that it does.

This is such a shame! Eric Johnson is one of the most gracious and honorable men at SBTS. I never heard him slander other faculty, but only speak kindly and graciously. I grew more in my walk with the Lord through his coursework than any other class I took at Southern.
