Nursing is a noble profession. The quacks that practise and parade as nurses should be banned in all establishments because there is no shortcut to success and they do more harm than good to our society. The government should stop putting the lives of the people at risk by allowing them to practice. Many innocent lives have been cut short and some are still battling their lives while some are living with the disabilities that these quacks brought upon them. Everyone who wants to practise as a nurse should go and obtain a jamb form and pick nursing as her chosen profession, then undergo a standardized training in school and be registered with the nurses governing body. With this, people's lives will be safe and Nigerians will live long and be more productive. We say No to Quackery!

Quackery in Nigeria is a dangerous practice that puts countless lives at risk. It undermines the credibility of health care, exposes patients to wrong treatments, and increases preventable deaths. No nation can strengthen its health system while allowing untrained and unlicensed individuals to handle human lives. The fight against quackery is not just for professionals; it is a collective responsibility to protect the dignity of healthcare and safeguard the health of Nigerians.

The decision to train and recruit unqualified individuals (“quacks”) as substitutes for professionally trained and registered nurses poses a grave danger to public health and safety. Nursing is not a trade that can be learned casually, it requires rigorous academic preparation, clinical training, licensing, and continuous professional development to ensure safe and evidence-based care.
By promoting quackery, the state risks increased medical errors, preventable deaths, poor maternal and child outcomes, and a collapse in the quality of healthcare delivery. This move will not only undermine the sacrifices and professionalism of registered nurses but also devalue the healthcare system of Ekiti State in the eyes of both citizens and the international community.
We strongly urge the government to invest in training, employing, and retaining qualified nurses, improving their welfare and working conditions, and creating opportunities for professional growth. The health of Ekiti people must never be compromised for short-term or cost-saving measures.
