You shouldn't be political bias, hypothetical and self centered. During the campaign ex president Mahama also suggested creating a new region from volta.

READ AND TAG A GUAN! CONCERNED VOLTA YOUTH (CVY) PETITION AGAINST THE SPLITTING OF VOLTA REGION (HOME) A BUNCH OF IGNORANT GENTLEMEN (sorry if I was harsh) My attention has been drawn to a so called group known as Concerned Volta Youth who have petitioned the President of the Republic of Ghana on behalf of the good people of Volta Region, Home and Abroad against the splitting of the Volta Region into two. In fact, I was sad when they even started on a “wrong note” stating emphatically that, “Mr. President, dividing a loyal region that shared or traces its historical background to a common source, how absurd?” is a clear clue of scowl ignorance. Reiterating the immediate preceding paragraph, I wish to educate all Ghanaians, including all those who always thought Volta Region was a region for only Ewes to treat the Press Release from an Attention Seeking Group which doesn’t even know the various tribes that constitute the Region they claim they represent. Let me put it on record that, the Ewe towns constitute a minority as compared to the Guan and Akan speaking communities. Even within the Hohoe Municipality, communities like Lolobi and Likpe are not Ewes. This goes a long way to prove that, the people of the Volta Region can’t trace its historic background to a common source as the group of ignorant attention seeking gentlemen stated. Now, let me educate you. There’s a big difference between Volta Region and the Ashanti Region. The people of the Ashanti Region can trace their historic background to one common source, they can therefore stand against any division. The People of Ashanti Region have ONLY ONE KING, can we say that about Volta? The reason why Volta cannot be divided shouldn’t be the same reason why Ashanti can’t be divided. All your life, I think you know of only two Major Chiefs, Togbui Sri and Togbui Afede, forgetting that, there is another ruler up there called Nana Mprah Besemuna among others. The President didn’

I don't see the reason to split our beloved Volta Region. The Government should rather be thinking how to give us independent. We don't belong to Ghana.

Voltarians let's look sharp. The idea behind the division is to cripple our dear homeland. Let's resist it with all our might.

No to division of our dear Volta land. If that is the is the case then every region in Ghana should be divided to ensure fairness. Political reasons are not enough to destroy the heritage and culture of our homeland. There are regions with more diverse tribes like BA and Western, dividing them won't be a problem like Volta.

Volta Region is a UN Trust Nation and is 10 years overdue for a referendum.
