As a fan & member of AFC Rushden & Diamonds I find this decision by the Southern League VERY insensitive & lacking class .If the United Counties League can allow us not to have our goalkeeper not wear the number 1 why can't the Southern League??? Dale Roberts will never ever be forgotten at the club & I think if a club wants to retire a number in honour of a former player for whatever reason they should be allowed to. Most football fans don't really care what numbers they have on their shirts so long as we see 11 versus 11 that's what we pay our money to see.

Disgraceful decision totally lacking in any thought or compassion !! I'm behind the club fighting this all the way and hopefully some common sense will prevail - this means a lot us fans!!
