if a club wants to retire a jersey they should be within to, especially when they are paying their respects to a former player, not be forced by a league to reinstate the jersey

Rest in Peace Dale - this was and always will be your shirt - forever Number 1!

Why is this a problem? In the premiership or football league the goalkeeper can wear whatever number he wants. So long as he has a different number to all the other players who cares what number it is?

Unbelievable Jeff! Not really. Typical of the muppets that run football. Let's hope common sense and RESPECT (which the F.A keep banging on about) prevails.

The FA need to respect the fans, club and family in the withdrawal of the shirt number.

R&D don't give in, and I hope the appeal goes the right way. Most decisions eventually come down to an individual-so whoever you are put your name against whatever final decision you make.

The FA wouldn't treat a premier league team the same.

FA and Southern league use common sense and you are not bigger than the game or the fans. Dale Roberts RIP

As a Diamonds fan I was disgusted upon hearing this news. R.I.P Dale, forever in our hearts. Leave his number alone.

In the modern age of football, no team should be forced to register a number.

The f.a should also back grass roots football not just the money boys.
