I'm recovering from years of physical health problems and as I live locally, I use the flat walks daily to improve my wellbeing. I would not be able to afford paying for parking daily or even weekly. It will be a huge shame, hindering so many people in so many ways. Looking after our beautiful town means encouraging all to use and enjoy it, not to push them away.

These charges will be the final nail in the coffin for Barry. If the councils aim is to ruin our wonderful town, then they’re doing a marvellous job!!!!!

No car parking charges on Barry Island

This is incredibly short sighted by the council. The lovely thing about the island is that there is some free parking which allows the 'locals' to enjoy the beach and then the council car parks enjoy the benefits of tourism when the sun is out and beach is busy. This will be bad for businesses and put people off going to the island at all - and push people into parking on the new housing estates which will be hazardous for the residents down there as well

Barry Island is enjoyed by people both locally and further away. They come to use local cafes and other businesses. We can't guarantee the weather so we need other facilities to ensure local businesses continue. We must encourage trade rather than add extra expense to potential customers. We need them to come back.

Parking charges will prevent visitors and locals from visiting Barry Island. Parking charges stop parents from taking their children on free or cheap days out for holidays. Community nurses will be forced to pay to visit their patients too!

I am in favour of parking charges to park at Barry Island, however, I do not agree that these charges should be all year round. During the winter months (dog's on beach season) I don't feel there should be any charge to park. I also think that £10 for an entire day is quite steep.

I think this would affect a lot of people I visit regular and I think this change would reduce the visits to Barry.
