As Christians, we believe in upholding the sacredness of our Lord Jesus Christ. In recent years, there have been films and media portrayals that present Jesus and Christian faith in ways that many believers find deeply offensive and disrespectful.

We ask for:

  1. Respectful Representation: Films and media must present Jesus Christ and Christian values with reverence and dignity.
  2. Consultation with Faith Leaders: Filmmakers should engage with church leaders and Christian organisations before releasing works that make use of Christian imagery or anything from the Holy Bible.
  3. Protection of Children and Youth: Safeguards should be in place so that young people are not exposed to harmful or mocking portrayals of their faith.
  4. Honouring the Name of Jesus: The name of Jesus must never be slandered, mocked, or used for ridicule and mere entertainment. His name is holy and worthy of worship, not to be treated lightly or for profit.
  5. Scriptural Integrity: The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God. Works based on non-biblical writings such as the Apocrypha should not be presented as Scripture.

The Name of Jesus must not be slandered, mocked, or reduced to mere entertainment. His Name is holy and worthy of worship, not ridicule. We call on filmmakers and media platforms to treat The Lord Jesus Christ with the love He deserves, remembering that His Name represents the foundation of faith for billions around the world. To use it lightly, or for profit at the expense of worship, is deeply offensive for He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. We ask that Jesus’ Name be honored and respected in all forms of media, as it should be in every part of life. Some movies and books base their stories on writings from the Apocrypha. As Christians, we affirm that the Apocrypha is not part of the inspired Word of God (the Holy Bible) and therefore should not be treated as Scripture.

John 14:6 is a Bible verse where Jesus states, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"
