We want the council to halt the build of 600 houses on the area surrounding Garrett Hall, which is situated between Astley and Mosley Common in the Tyldesley area of Manchester.

This is the only area of green space left in this part of Tyldesley and is home to a farm, is local wildlife and its potentially an area of Historical interest.

We urge local resiidents to sign this petition as once we lose our remaining piece of countryside, we will never regain it.

Updates

March 19, 2013

Peel Holdings thinks they can pave over our history and walk away with a profit while we lose our only green space. I have been spending my nights digging into their planning documents and their excuses are as hollow as their promises about sustainability. We are not letting this land disappear without a fight.

Astley isn't big enough to take another 600 houses. This is going to create havoc on the already busy roads, schools, doctors not to mention the utilities! How could anyone be so stupid as to grant planning permission for this? Let's get things right for once...no more new housing estates in the Astley area. They are not needed. Money needs spending in Astley and the surrounding areas to bring it anywhere near to the standard it used to be.

The traffic is bad enough already without adding hundreds more cars. Enough is enough leave the fields alone.
