I believe the RCF proposal would definitely mess up the World Championship and for no good reason other than inject more money into it.

I think that the Challenger should achieve the rights to fight for the WCC over the board, not because someone with a sponsor pay the taxes and makes FIDE richer. As simple as that.
IMO, the Challenger must be the winner of the Candidates, just as now.

absurd proposal by the RCF; I am shocked that such an idea was even entertained!

The WC values stems from its being rare - just as do in most sport an Olympic medal compared to a regular tournament.

Absolutely not. Commercial WC matches will only cheapen chess in every way.

Please. Do not cancel out the Candidates cycle. It would be horrendous.

I completely agree with ACP's view. We need to make Chess a respetable sport, and being able to "buy" a match for the title does not help...it would be more a kind of gambling than a serious organized system.
I expect that efforts are focused on strengthen the official cycle...not creating a pseudo alternative one.

I played in the World Chess Olympiads in 1972, 1976, 1978 and 1980. I have was the permanent delegate to FIDE during those years.
