Adults hugely overestimate the amount of time we spend on and rely on our phones, and hugely underestimate the amount of time we spend and how much we rely on our friends. All we constantly do is talk, have fun and socialise. Are life is all go, go, go and busy and sometimes it's nice just to be able to have half an hour to be alone, scroll through your phone and catch-up with the word and outside friends. Phones are just a thing of the modern world that are only used accesively by a minority of people, a large amount of which are adults and it causes huge frustration to teenagers that adults can't actually see the fact that we spend so much time just having fun and being with our friends, on top of working and busy school life. Therefore having some time to go on your phone is necessary, as well as the fact they are extremely useful in the case of needing to access someone, or information quickly. So can people please get over this now 'obsession' with the fact that teenagers spend too much time on their phones and social media and start being more concerned with the fact that adults spend too much wasted time on talking about something that is so inaccurate. Oh yeah and the phone fast was certainly not voluntary as had we refused to hand in our phones we would have got in a lot of trouble, it was not optional, it was very much compulsory.
