Facebook posts are not going to make any change- all it is a way to vent. This petition is a first ACTION step. A few people called the task force, which is amazing, but this petition will allow people who are uncomfortable calling to show their stance. We all have a voice in this community, I encourage you all to use it, even if it is uncomfortable.
The momentum is undeniable now. It is clear that this community is united in protecting our home.

The opening was too soon and was all about the cigarettes outside of town wanted. Were aware that many stores were not in favor. Why not a soft opening for businesses in town for community first.

I understand that there needs to be balance and that the community funding will run out but feel strongly that the community should have remained closed at least until we see what will happen with the opening on the outside. This pandemic is far from being at a safe level with new cases in the hundreds each day in Quebec. I hope that I’m wrong and that there won’t be a spike in cases in our community. Please reconsider your decision. Nia:wen

The June 1st reopening of Kahnawake was too soon. We should have held out a while longer to how Quebec’s reopening went, because I believe Quebec made a big mistake, and instead of learning from it, Kahnawake followed it. Now with that being said, I’d like to know how far ahead the task force thought about the potential consequences? Should there be an outbreak in Kahnawake where locals required hospitalization and ventilator treatment, will we be able to get this service right here in Kahnawake, or will our people be forced outside to possibly die in a Montreal hospital?

On behalf of myself and my grandchildren, I would prefer if Kahnawake stay closed to non residents. I find it way too soon (after the outside government opened up) for Kahnawake to welcome everyone into our community.. the Task Force needed to survey the situation outside for at the very least 14 days to see the repercussions that happens after so carelessly opening the floodgates to everyone.

It's way to soon. With the way it was on opening day and some people not social distancing while they where waiting for cigarettes. Who knows if they had it or not and being in some smoke shops where it's tiny any not much ventilation isn't good.

Due to white governmentnot giving assistance to first nation people, that all reservations should stay closed to outside influences
