This building Levy is unfair coming from an organization that hasn’t made any move to improve the training of medical doctors in postgraduate studies.

If quackery is not killed in the Nigeria Health sector, if proper work description is not instilled in our private and public sector, if our remuneration does not matter to NMA, if unemployment/underemployment does not matter to NMA, if the current geometric rise in brain drain does not matter to NMA, if our physical, social, and mental well-being does not matter to NMA, if there is no need to let members know about the blue print of such thought out proposed massive project, then NMA has no moral justification to collect such monies from Nigerian Doctors who are surviving in the hardest and hashest way possible.

I have a serious problem with accountability by the people in charge. I have paid a similar levy before and there was nothing to show for it. This makes me wary. Additionally, I think associations and institutions should start looking beyond levies when undertaking projects. They should engage investors, look for endowments for these projects

I think the MDCN should first account for the lot that has come thru her purse so far. Then the levy can be collected in small bits say 2k per year(a sum added to the renewal fee) to a max of 5years making 10k.

The levy is so exorbitant and NMA don't need big building as it's not manufacturing industry. We all need offices in all the 36 states of the federation not necessary a castle in Abuja.

Solutions to NMA'S NEED FOR A BUILDING Without Extorting extra Money from Doctors 1) NMA SHOULD use The 70 percent of doctors year Licence fees NMA collects each Year from MDCN of which nothing tangible has been for Doctors with the money collected over the past 20 years 2) SINCE THE NMA LAND IS IN A HIGH PROFILE .ABUJA AREA, MAITAMA, NMA SHOULD THEN RENT/LEASE OUT THE LAND FOR LONG TERM LEASE MAYBE 40 YEARS TO A PRIVATE DEVELOPER WHO WOULD BUILD MULTIPLE FLOORS AND GIVE NMA ONE FLOOR TO USE. AFTER 40 YEARS NMA WOULD GET THEIR BUILDING BACK AND HAVE ALL FLOORS TO THEMSELVES TO COLLECT RENTS FROM ALL FLOORS AND THEN BE SELF FUNDED AND NMA WOULD NOT NEED TO EXTORT AND COLLECT DUES FROM DOCTORS AGAIN 3) SELL THE MAITAMA LAND SINCE THE LAND IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND USE THE LAND MONEY TO BUY A CHEAPER BUILDING SOMEWHERE IN ABUJA. OFFICE NA OFFICE SO FAR IT IS FUNCTIONAL 5) ASK.EFCC CHAIRMAN TO GIVE NMA ONE OF THE MANY AVAILABLE SEIZED ABANDONED PROPERTIES IN ABUJA OR LAGOS TO USE AS NMA BUILDING. 6) NMA SHOULD ASK MEDICAL DOCTORS IN POLITICS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE BUILDING. DR BUKOLA SARAKI, DR CHRIS NGIGE, DR EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN, DR PETER ODILI 7) INVITE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES AND MULTIMILLIONAIRES LIKE DANGOTE ETC TO GIVE TOWARDS NMA BUILDING ....#NMA BUILDING SOLUTION, NO NEED FOR LEVY

We need transparency and accountability in NMA. Leaders were elected to represent us, not to rip us off. Enough is enough

This levy should have had everyone's input and not an imposition and also not tied to license renewal.
