I don't want NMA house levy. NMA should look for how to raise fund for her building , we are not competing with Johesu

I believe at this crucial time of recession in Nigeria, NMA should focus its attention more on mitigating the Health & Financial Challenges of it’s members and the Nigerian public at large that we are meant to serve. The humongous unaccounted for monies collected monthly from Drs by NMA & that remitted annually to NMA by MDCN would be better spent in securing Medical Insurance for Drs & their dependents and supporting our unemployed colleagues as opposed to a ‘sky scraper’ building to massage our egos. More so, to whom much(our hard earned money) is given, much is expected. Before imposing such an insensitive & unrealistic levy, let NMA first account for the 10,000 arbitrarily deducted from FMOH Drs salaries this year, the previous NMA building levy & all other monies collected by the association since inception. We call for an independent 10yr audit of all NMA accounts by a reputable accounting firm, Furthermore a release of their ‘budget’ for this proposed building & a clear cut plan on the checks & balances in place to ensure judicious spending. When they have done this let them come back with a referendum on social media requesting our input (as financial members) on the way forward (preferably with options) maybe then...we might support their grandiose plans.

This levy is the height of rascality on the part of these men called medical elders. This is just going to be one of those funds, nobody will account for. Gone with the wind.

This is insensitive and unjust, demanding for that amount at a time in the country that alot of Doctors are underemployed and barely getting by. This is exploitation of the highest order.

1. Asides meeting with the top guns in NMA and fellow residents, do you get time to meet with younger colleagues? Do they share their problems with you? Have you been able to conceptualize them? 2. Do you realise the sheer number of doctors travelling Nigeria looking for house officer placements? Do you realise that some, after two years, have to renew a licence they've never used? Have you taken a statistics of how many doctors with primaries and yet to get a placement after five years? (Not to talk of people who have two or three primaries in different specialties) 3. Do you realise that the misery index amongst young Nigerian doctors has peaked? Lots of your colleagues don't have jobs.. Lots of your colleagues are serving prison sentences.. (else what will you call a 2-4-7 job, with 80k pay for a doctor? ) Do you realise that in some states, some doctors earn as low as 30k monthly? If you doubt this, call your friends who work in Imo state 4. Have you paid attention to the groans of doctors who are doing these ignoble jobs who are being owed arrears of salaries for months? 5. Have you ever wondered why patronage for foreign medical licencing exams is now at an all time high? 6. Have you wondered why the national college had to call off their workshop scheduled for this month, and fix it for the "future"? Lawd knows what exactly the future is.. 7. When was the last time NMA addressed any of these issues? Did the NMA you served in as treasurer ever do anything to address any of these? 8. Do you think NMA is living up to her name? An *association* for all Nigerian doctors 9. If tomorrow, you heard that NMA blacklisted you, will you cry, or in your heart of hearts, thank God for good riddance to bad rubbish? 10. Do you believe in your heart of hearts that erecting this structure will make all these problems go away? 11. Will younger doctors who are mandated to give to an association that doesn't g

NMA has now become a tool of extortion. It is now worse than main stream politics. The most we should pay is 1000 naira. Over a period of 2years

NMA is private body, while mdcn is a government organization. And the money is just too exuberant
