MTV's original format ever since August 1981 was simply about MUSIC TELEVISION, & somehow in the late 2000s, the channel seldom plays music & will air shows about teen pregnancy & reality shows having absolutely nothing to do with music. I feel like MTV has been dumbed down over the course of the past few years & somehow lost their audience who was all about watching the music videos & anything regarding music.

Other than the lack of music not being show, I also feel like they are also dumbing down the youth of now as far social awareness. Back in the 80s & the 90s, they were all about social issues regarding teens when it came to sex, pregnancy, HIV, AIDS, & STDs encouraging teenagers to be well aware & responsible. Cut to today, they have "Teen Mom" glorifying teen pregnancy whereas before MTV was educating us about preventing teenage pregnancy so I feel like theMTVof this generationis givingteenagers permission to allow teen pregnancy to be acceptable.
