Migration Board of the Kingdom of Sweden have recently changed the regulations for visa extension of non-EU/EES students, lengthening the average processing period of applications from 2 months to 5 months or longer. As a result many students face risk of being enable to visit their home countries for Christmas/ New Year in particular, and missing job or other interviews/ invitations outside Sweden. Considering decreasing number of non-EU/EES students due to application of high tuition fees for these students, lengthening evaluation period of visa extension seems totally illogical. Moreover, visa extension application entails few documents and none of them requires time-consuming investigation. We call for Migrationsverket to limit the evaluation time of visa extension applications to 1 (one) or up to 2 (two) months after the expiry date of the previous visa.
