I strongly oppose this bill. Ag lands need to stay designated ag land and not diluted into residential only zoning. This bill was created from nuisance complaints. Enforce the existing laws that address
those complaints.

This very poorly written bill effectively makes it illegal for small poultry producers to feed their family and community. It is nothing more than the whining of people who knowingly bought ag land and now want to live in town conditions. Cockfighting is illegal already. Put your energy toward enforcement Eileen. Did you eat today? Thank a farmer!

I believe that agricultural lands should be able to raise animals no matter what kind. Chickens, cows, horses, goats, etc.. I am totally against this bill of limiting roosters and chickens!! It’s Country Living!!

My ʻohana and I live on and own agriculture/residential land in Puna (subdivisions in Keaʻau and Volcano). We raise poultry and plant sweet potato, kalo, banana, oranges, and other crops for our own food. We harvest mostly our roosters for food (for us and for our dogs) because we always have more roosters being hatched than hens. We moved here from Honolulu 15 years ago in order to live an agricultural lifestyle. This Bill interferes with our way of life. If you don’t want to live near farms and roosters , even subsistence farms like ours, don’t buy and live in lots zone for agriculture! Where do you think food comes from?

Keep "Ag" zoned land as it is!
Those that want "B and B" or " vacation properties to rent out to vacationer's need to disclose what is surrounding said properties in their advertisements!
Those that built vacation homes are doing so on "Ag" land! That is NOT what it is for!
"Ag" land is to raise live stock, not make money of of tourist!

It takes more than 4 roosters to have a diverse gene pool for breeding a specific chicken breed. Chicken farmers need to breed and supply chicks for eggs and meat to the public, and should be encouraged, not discouraged. For every chick bred here, its one less chick shipped in (and they are shipped in by the thousands) from the mainland. This is best for our local economy and the environment. Chicken farming provides local jobs and puts money into our local economy. These roosters (and hens) will keep Hawaiians employed and is a valid use of AG land.
