The rezoning of neighborhoods, the sale and transfer of air rights, are transforming Greenwich Village from low-scale buildings on tree-lined streets which offer a sense of community, into a neighborhood of of high rise structures filled with empty luxury condos where the rich park their money. How many more do we need of: Greenwich Lane, 150 Charles St,, St. Luke's 100 Barrow St development, soon-to-be developed St. John's Warehouse high rise before we have our very own Shanghai? At some point -- and 11 Jane St is that point -- elected and appointed officials must stop to recognize that human needs supersede capitalist gains.

Please do not destroy the ambiance, look and feel of this historic area for the benefit of the relatively few who would occupy the building. There would be a profound negative impact on the quality of life for far many who live in, visit and enjoy this neighborhood -- as is.

hey should keep the facade as it is. As a landmark district this building is an example of where the first automobiles manfactured were garaged.

They provide no sense of what it will look like to the many village buildings and apartments facing it at street level and above from directly across the street or closer down the block, or on either side of or on the back of the building. These views must also be considered when determining how this proposed building will impact the low scale, intimate nature of this mid-block location in historic Greenwich Village.
