That's is bull. There is no reason to ban the owning of snakes since only a few months a year could a tropical or warm weather snake even venture out of it's House of origin if it were to escape it's habitat and it's most likely if it did too cause no harm to anyone. Worst case it would eat another pet if that big. In conclusion let him have his snakes they are no issues with them especially when we'll secured in it's habitat.

Ive owned snakes for over 10 years and was able to get a permit in Des Moines to own my snakes that are over 6 ft with a class that I had to take but the class hadnt been held is 12 years befor the one no was able to take iowa needs to work on respecting the fact that there are people in this state that want to be able to own snakes and work with us to make a system that will acatuly work these snakes are not dangerous if you follow some rules 1st of all is proper caging and in my mind that is the only thing these city's should be able to regulate is to make sure we have proper Caging this no snake policies is old fashioned and is very disrespectful to peace full people just wanting to enjoy there life

While I do not agree with these local laws, I should assume that there ought to be at least a clause within these that allow a resident a reasonal amount of time in this situation to relocate the animals, before the state moves in to confiscate them

Non-venomous snakes are less dangerous and can cause lesser injuries than dogs and cats.

I own snakes and monitors since I was 5 and now 17 stuggle with family issues and reptiles have kept me alive and well they are great creatures to have I'm from Australia where everything is out to kill you really not they just get a bad name hope this is a wake up call to you people who call your selfs animal lovers and don't love them all

I have 6 snakes and never had any problems. Do ur research!! You are more likely to be bit by your family dog then a snake!

I own two snakes and I’ve been denied housing because of snakes. I’ve only had one accident of one getting out (found him right away though under the TV) and learned my lesson quickly and have never had any other slip. Both non-venomous and friendliest snakes in the world, yet that doesn’t justify anything.

As an owner of constrictors who had to choose my passion over my hometown due to lack of information and a common hatred for a anything misunderstood, I am completely against the ban basically because it's feeding the fear of creatures that shouldn't even be an issue

I used to be an Iowa resident. Grew up in Council Bluffs. I moved away partly due to the ridiculous laws in Iowa against reptiles. It kept me from expanding and learning about a career path that I wanted for myself. I now live in California and have 22 snakes and have been breeding as well. Along with doing educational shows and rescues. Reptiles if kept right make amazing pets especially many snakes including constrictor species. I understand laws against venomous. However there are many constrictors that dont even reach 10 feet and cant become invsasive due to the winters in the midwest such as Ball Pythons or Red Tail Boas and many other variations. I feel all these animals should be legal to keep. Breed if you have a permit and sell as well. They make amazing pets and help many people with depression or anxiey issues such as myself.

This city code needs to be reviewed and the law makers of the town must get over their unnecessary fear of snakes and do what is right.

Snakes are our pets just like anyone's cats or dogs. They have personalities too. And we can love them just the same. A wide spread ban is ridiculous. Let us keep our pets!!!
