This kind of prejudice against a house pet is ridiculous.

Snakes are cage animals, kept indoors, unlike the dogs and cats that are allowed to roam freely

The people against this obviously have no understanding of the care, love and attention as well as expense and love we give them.

I have kept snakes over 40 years. And have preformed hundreds of educational displays and 1000's of hours in community outreach. And not experienced one animal related issue.

please inform them that snakes have been linked to 18 deaths since 1970s, but dogs kill 35 people annually, horses 30, cats 8...reptiles pose very little threat to people and most are very docile.

I see no threat in keeping non-venomous snakes as pets. I am a non-venomous snake keeper myself and can attest that properly cared for non-venomous snakes are of no threat to their human counterparts.

Harmless snakes as pets can be great means of getting in touch with the natural world.
