I've owned snakes for 15 years, and never owned a mean one. They're very intriguing interesting animals with a lot of character. They have feelings like you and I, bad days and good days. That have been in the pet world for many years. They come in many sizes and colors but all have their own beauty unmistakably.

Recently I moved to a small Iowa town and the city hall found out I had pet snakes. They have ordinates (Title IV, chapter 1(4-1-7) that don't allow snakes (venomous or constrictors) of any kind to be kept as pets. Which I was unaware of. They are threatening to seize my animals and/or take me to court.

The snakes i currently own pose no threat to someone's pet or child. They simply can't get that big. They are kept inside secure cages so they cannot get out. THE STATE LAW has no issues with non venomous snakes being kept as pets. It is not only unconstitutional and incredibly biast based on fears but could also be challenged in court and be ruled void. Pet dog's harm or even worse human's more yearly than snakes by far. Yet there is cow farms in town.

I'm creating this petition in efforts to help myself and snake keepers around the state of Iowa.

My snakes are non venomous and no threat to anyone's kids nor pets. They're more than just snakes, they help me with my anxiety and depression.

I ask you to sign it, sign it to help reptile keepers statewide. Every signature will help. We need to show them snakes are amazing creatures that are no less than other commonly kept pets.

Thank you,

Andrew.

It is a shame that snakes are so misunderstood. The current law in your area is based on fear. I could understand requiring a permit and/or license for venomous reptiles but such a broad spectrum ban is nonsense.

Update the laws! Locking enclosures are available if that would make lawmakers feel better but seizing these beautiful animals does nothing to protect civilians, it only hurts pet parents.

I own several snakes, a couple of which I use when i work with a life coach to help people overcome irrational fears and gain more control of their lives. I couldn't help others the way I do without my beloved snakes.

please inform them that snakes have been linked to 18 deaths since 1970s, but dogs kill 35 people annually, horses 30, cats 8...reptiles pose very little threat to people and most are very docile.

I own two snakes and I’ve been denied housing because of snakes. I’ve only had one accident of one getting out (found him right away though under the TV) and learned my lesson quickly and have never had any other slip. Both non-venomous and friendliest snakes in the world, yet that doesn’t justify anything.

As an owner of constrictors who had to choose my passion over my hometown due to lack of information and a common hatred for a anything misunderstood, I am completely against the ban basically because it's feeding the fear of creatures that shouldn't even be an issue

Keep pet snakes now. According to the New York Post’s story, Hunter Biden in 2015 introduced his Father, then VP in the Obama Administration, to a Top Exec Vadym Pozharskyi at Ukrainian Burisma Holdings Ltd after Hunter joined the company’s board which was Paying him up to $83,000 a Month. The insinuation is that Hunter Successfully Influenced his Father to Pressure Ukraine Government officials “into Firing the Prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was Investigating Corruption against Burisma. Facebook and Twitter took action to limit distribution (censored) the New York Post story citing Emails purportedly Revealing Evidence of Influence-Peddling by Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden. The Emails were obtained from a Laptop which had a sticker from the Beau Biden Foundation, and had been Abandoned at Computer-Repair Shop, named “The Mac Shop” in Wilmington, Delaware and owned by John Paul Mac Isaac, who then reported the laptop’s contents to authorities which determined that the laptop and hard drive contain fruits of criminal activity. Joe Biden and his family engaged in "Legal Corruption" despite claims of no wrongdoing and the Liberal Main Stream Media Refuses to Talk and will never Report about Hunter Biden’s laptop and emails, fearing Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden will Lose the 2020 Election if this information is exposed to the American People. This is evidence that Joe Biden participated in his Family’s CASH-for-Influence Scheme with Shady Foreign Companies. The American People should be demanding that the Media investigate this scandal before they VOTE, but we know, the Media will never report on Hunter Biden’s emails because it would be harmful to Joe Biden.
