This petition seeks Freedom of the personal device policy of our school.

This freedom includes: Personal Computers, Personal gaming consoles, WIRED Headphones for said devices, and other electronic devices that are not already banned. If not using headphones, volume must be kept LOW at all times.

This freedom does NOT include: Phones, Wireless Headphones, Charging said devices at school (they have to bring it in charged or bring a power bank to charge it), and any form of selective or discriminatory discipline.

If devices are taken this way (not including banned devices), the staff member MUST provide the specific reason for confiscation on the spot, with no confidentiality or vague explanations. The reason must directly relate to disruption or misuse. If the reason is not given, or if the reason has nothing to do with disruption in any form, the student may appeal it with the administration team and MUST receive an answer within 3 school days. Selective or discriminatory discipline will not be authorized in any way. Treat everyone equally unless there is a documented reason such as a 504 plan or something that helps their mental or physical illness.

If a device is damaged while in school custody, the staff member must document the incident in writing. If no documentation is provided, it is on the STUDENT because they brought it in. If children exploit this rule, ban them directly from bringing devices in, a fair punishment for the crime of fraud.

I encourage you to only sign if it is non-instructional time (i.e. Lunch, Study Hall, Passing Periods, or Class periods when having no work to do).

Coming from a student with a high GPA (Lowest 3.5), the students should have the ability to use these devices after that student is considered finished when all assigned work for that period is submitted to or verified as complete by the teacher. This CANNOT be exploited by saying “your work isn’t fully complete” when it is. If the work does not get done, then it is on the legal guardian to enforce a punishment for thou student to follow the expectations.

Reasonable access to non-communication devices like these will also set the students up for their future in the workforce. In there, they will sometimes have the option to have their personal device out as long as the work gets done or if they are on break. This is not only a learning opportunity that the students WILL use in the future, it is also balance that they will need to have to juggle their responsibilities with their wants.

I know why they banned it; however, punishment should be through guardians and not unnecessary rules. If the grades continue to deplete, the teacher should have the authority to take it until the end of the period (NOT a broad way of saying they can take it, ONLY if the grades are failing or close to failing like a D- or a D). Not only does this teach ACTUAL consequence, it lets children with no entertainment and no work not be bored and sit there because they are obligated to be there.

NOTE: Using fake or notorious names that are not your legal name shall be insignificant to the goal. I am not responsible for your name either. HOWEVER, using an anonymous name is permitted.

WARNING: DONATIONS ARE NOT TO ME, THEY ARE TO THE WEBSITE ITSELF. I AM ALSO NOT TAKING ANY MONEY IN ANY REGARDS FOR THIS, THAT IS NOT WHAT I SEEK.

We are officially protesting for the non-needed rule that was implemented that made school feel like that one Captain Underpants clip. I am willing to negotiate a compromise as well.
